Terms
Terms of service
These are the terms for using notifi — the apps and the
notifi.it service. Using either means you accept them.
The service
notifi delivers push notifications: an HTTP request to
notifi.it/send, authenticated by a send key, becomes a
notification on the device that created the key. The service is free,
and there is no account — your device's keys are your identity, as the
privacy policy describes.
Your keys and your device
- A send key delivers only to the device that created it. You are responsible for where you put your keys and for what the scripts holding them send.
- If a key leaks, revoke it in the app. Sends made with it before revocation still count as yours.
- Deleting the app deletes your identity. There is no recovery, because there is nothing held that could recover it.
Acceptable use
- Use the service only for lawful purposes.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the service, probe it for weaknesses beyond what responsible disclosure needs, or circumvent the rate limits.
- Do not send content you have no right to send, even to your own device.
Keys or devices used in breach of these terms can be blocked without notice.
What the service does not promise
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and without an uptime or delivery guarantee. Delivery depends on Apple's push service, your network, and your device's settings, none of which notifi controls. The service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued.
Do not make notifi the only path for anything where a missed message causes harm. It is a pager for your own systems, not a life-safety, medical or emergency alerting system, and it must not be relied on as one.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, notifi is not liable for losses arising from use of the service — including a message that arrives late, arrives altered by a fault, or does not arrive at all. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The apps
The iPhone app is distributed through the App Store, where Apple's own terms also apply. The Mac app is distributed from this site and updates itself. The source code for the apps and the service is public at github.com/notifi-it/notifi, under the licence stated there.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the previous versions remain in the public git history of the project.
Questions about these terms can be raised at github.com/notifi-it/notifi/issues.
